One of God’s greatest gifts to us is his promise to give us the ability to love and serve him. It is impossible to be the kind of people he intended for us to be when he created us if our hearts are still filled with the desire to do whatever we want (selfishness), instead of doing what God wants us to do (to love him and to love others).
So, when we choose to trust in Jesus, God reaches out to us, takes our hard and selfish hearts away and gives us new, good, clean hearts. He fills them with his spirit, which is LIFE, and enables us to love. This is called being born again. When we’re born again we are given hearts that are wiling to serve our God and others. We discover the beauty of the life God wants us to have.
