Reading Through the Bible in 2009

Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope you all are well and that you had a lovely time celebrating the holidays with family and friends! My holidays were nice this year, but definitely not the “norm.” I’ve been busy working on the new CD (very close to finishing) and have also been getting ready move to Boston, MA. Please keep both of these projects in your prayers!

Would anyone like to join me again this year in reading through the Bible? I have been following a reading plan by Robert Murray M’Cheyne (1813-1843) for the past several years. It’s wonderful! It keeps me in four parts of the Scripture every day. To download the study plan visit: Bible Reading Program. (There’s a pdf you can download and print.)

If you aren’t a fan of reading, you can also follow the study by listening to it online or downloading it as a podcast. Just visit ESV One Year Tract.

If you do decide to join me, please let me know. I always love to hear from you.

I was reading last night and came across two scriptures that were encouraging and challenging. I would like to share them with you:

Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.” ~John 20:29

Even when you can’t “see” the answers to your questions or difficulties keep clinging to Jesus. He is able to move “mountains” and will always show Himself faithful–sometimes it’s just a matter of waiting for His perfect time.

And men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth!” ~Psalm 58:11

There may be moments in your life when you wonder if your pursuit of Christ really makes a difference. Thoughts like, “Why not just live like everyone else and stop being so ‘intense’” may come. But don’t allow yourself to believe that there is no reward for staying committed to what God has shown you. Being faithful to Jesus is worth whatever it costs you. Remember: Eternity is a long time.

Be encouraged and stay faithful in 2009! He’s been so faithful to you!
