Steadfastly Pursuing Peace

“The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3

stead·fast: resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering
Oh to have a steadfast heart . . . one that is intimately acquainted with peace. How? The passage continues:

“Trust in the LORD forever, for in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.” (v4)

Trust. It is not just a feeling or an emotion. Trust is an attitude of the heart and it often requires action.

Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, O LORD, we have waited for You eagerly; Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our souls. At night my soul longs for You, indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently.” (v8-9)

  • Follow God in the way he requires . .
  • Wait . . . eagerly.
  • Long for Christ enough that we actually actively seek him.

LORD, You will establish peace for us, since You have also performed for us all our works.” (v12)

The result of earnestly seeking Christ, of being obedient and following him in the way he requires, is peace. Because when we pursue him, he becomes the delight and the desire of our heart; and we discover that he himself will do everything needed for his will to be accomplished in our lives.

We trust.

We wait.

We seek.

Steadfastly. Dutifully. Unwaveringly.

Intentionally.

And we find peace.
