Live It

This week as I was reading through 2 Peter and 1 John my heart was stirred. I’ve read both letters many, many times, but this was one of those “eureka” moments that happen only occasionally. My first thoughts were, “What can I do with this? Should I blog? Out of all these truths, what exactly should I write about?” Then I heard it: Live it.

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

Living out the truth—or rather, letting Him live in us, is more important to God than anything we could ever do for Him. He would rather us focus on pleasing Him by living out Micah 6:8, Romans 5-8, 13, and Ephesians 4 than anything else. Actually, He wants to do the living for us.

The war for the soul is strong and it seems that those who lay claim to truth experience it’s violence more than those who make no claim at all. How often have we seen a man or woman “known” to be a follower of Christ falling into the same sin and depravity they radically preached against? The greater one understands the power of light and darkness and of life and light, the harder one seems to fall. It’s a terrifying thought to be, even for a moment, separated from the very light and life that one has spent a lifetime pursuing.

My prayer this morning (and for the rest of my life) is that I will not just be a songwriter, a singer, or a blogger who can share insights about God. I want to represent Him in my personal life, too. If I lose the power to do that (in other words, if I move away from or stop pursuing Grace—Christ) there will be little, if any, power in my works (even if I do not realize it).

The war will rage on. Temptation and fear will seek to conquer even the strongest of the faithful. We MUST pursue HIM. HE must be our passion. We must live and move and have our being in HIM so that we can stand firm against the struggles that are bound to plague us in this life.

“Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ!”

His & Yours,

Stephanie
