Thankful

Lately I’ve been feeling… waves of thankfulness. It happens at random—when I’m making the bed, doing laundry or getting other work done, or when I’m taking a walk or playing music; or even just laying on the couch with my husband watching Ratatouille. I keep thinking, “I am so blessed.” (This morning it happened when I looked in my drawer full of sample moisturizers for my face that I’ve collected during “bonus times” at Estee Lauder or Clinique! Kind of funny.)

Even though last year wasn’t exactly a great one, when I think back all I can say is, “Wow. Thank you, Lord you have been so faithful!” In spite of many difficult times, our Father constantly provided just what we needed at just the right time—not only on the material/temporal side of things, but on the spiritual side as well. Strength and grace has been ours in abundance, even in the moments where we should have had none.

It’s hard to be thankful in hard times. But these “waves” (even on my not-so-good days) are reminding me, once again, that life, joy, and peace is truly a gift from God. It is He who breathes in to us and enables us to praise with a thankful heart.

So… at this present moment I am thankful for the gift of a thankful heart; for the sense of anticipation I feel in my spirit (one that I really have no reason to have right now). I’m thankful for the knowledge that I have deep inside my soul that He really is listening to my prayers—even the silent ones—and that He watching over me, and my new little family. I’m thankful that He cares.
