Job’s Song Lyrics & Rough

Hey all! I am currently in BOSTON without my guitar OR piano so I decided to upload this rough ’till I can get some others recorded.

Wrote this tune a few months ago—based on some of the emails I have received lately, I’m sure at least some of you will be able to relate to the lyrics!

Job’s Song
Words and Music: Stephanie Staples

It’s been a while, I’m beyond the point of tired
Shall I still wait for the breath of life to come

The beauty for ashes
The water from the rock
Relief from this plague
Can you take away this shame?

They don’t understand what I’m feeling
They’ve never been through this
Should I repent, I’m so lonely
Father, please remember this
I’m only human, only human

It’s been a while, but you walked this path before me
You were in flesh, the life, the breath, the healing

The beauty for ashes
Water from the rock
Relief from the plagues
Deliverance from shame

You understand what I’m feeling
You’ve been through this before
You faced the scorn of the nations
Sill you held on, You endured
So I won’t pretend what I’m going through
Is even close to what you’ve known
In spite of the judgments I feel raging in and out
I’ll hold on to you

Beauty for ashes
Water from the rock
Relief from the pain
Deliverance from shame

You understand what I’m feeling
You’ve been through this before
You faced the scorn of the nations
Still you held on, you endured

So I’ll hold my head up, lift my eyes to you
For the strength to endure
I know you remember
So I’ll hold on to you
