The Purpose

“In the beginning,” God breathed into man and made Him alive. At that moment, there was no enmity between flesh and blood (mankind) and the Spirit (God), only sweet communion.

When humanity (WE) chose to live independently from our Creator, we lost “the Breath.” Our connection with God, our “oneness” with Him in all of His goodness, purity, and LIFE, was destroyed. As a result, a dichotomy (between flesh and the Spirit) became something mankind could not overcome. Flesh and blood, once pure, living harmoniously with the Spirit, was now impure.

Messiah (Salvation, Christ) was (is) the remedy for that dichotomy. In His flesh, He exemplified purity and righteousness, showing us that by losing ourselves in HIM, in His purity, righteousness, holiness, justice, faithfulness, mercy, and love, we can, despite the fact that we are “flesh and blood,” enjoy communion with our Father again—the same communion that “was from the beginning.”

Christ was “in the beginning with God.” He was there when everything began, and it was He who walked with Adam “in the cool of the day.” When He appeared to us again, as the “second Adam,” the “second man,” His purpose had not changed. The only difference was that this time, He re-created creation by defeating what had defeated it (the independence which caused the separation which led to corruption and chaos), and made it possible for us to enjoy LIFE as “new,” purified, men and women.

Yes, Christ did what He had done at the beginning: He breathed His Life (His Spirit) into us. He made us “new creatures,” raised us from the dust, and filled us with His Spirit. Why? For the same reason we were created at first: communion.

Though we are still waiting to see this truth displayed in it’s fullness, and to behold with our eyes the One Whom we have beheld in our spirits (He said He “went away” to prepare a “new heaven’s and a new earth” where death is no more and life is eternal), we do not need to wait for communion. Communion (unity) with God was and is the purpose of God in the earth, and it is in fact, how we know we are in Christ. It is only by communing with Him that we can partake of His life.

Forgiveness was necessary, but Communion was the purpose.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.” John 1:1-4

“I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.” John 17:23

(See all of John 17.)

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Stephanie
